PKR president Anwar Ibrahim returns to the party headquarters after an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Asked for his comments on Dr Mahathir Mohamad's resignation as the country's prime minister, Anwar says that he was with the premier when he decided to resign.
The Malaysian prime minister, 94-year-old Mahathir Mohamad, has submitted his resignation to the king. The fate of Malaysia's ruling coalition was in doubt, after surprise talks with opposition groups over the weekend. Their focus was on forming a new government that would exclude Mahathir's expected successor Anwar Ibrahim.
