（DayakDaily - Kuching，Dec 30）: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) has served a show cause letter to Wong Ching King, a party potential candidate for Repok. According to its president Voon Lee Shan, Wong has been served with the show cause letter before Christmas where Wong must explain why he should not face disciplinary actions for many of his remarks or statements appeared on his social media page.
“He had been advised not to create more damage to the party but he ignored us. We had been patient with him but was forced to give the show cause letter after advice not heeded. “He was entitled to explain his actions but instead of facing possible disciplinary action, he chose to resign from the party,” said Voon in a statement yesterday. Voon believed that Wong chose the decision to resign rather than to face disciplinary action against him.
To Voon, it is quite normal when elections are near, political parties may face problems of party members resigning and attacking their own party and party leaders. PBK is not alone. Some disgruntled with their own party even went to bring along with them thousands of members away to form new political parties.
“While others may resign, there are others who come into the party too. No political party including PBK would just give up in their struggle just because some had resigned or some had attacked their own party,” said Voon.
He said PBK is a nationalist party and a party for those who have deep feelings of nationalism. All members in the party must rise up above politics. Instead of fighting to be candidates, members should be fighting to seek freedom and independence for Sarawak.
“PBK is not a party for seeking pastures to graze. The party will not allow anyone to use it as a platform to join elections, if he/she has no winning chances. “The bottomline is to win,” said Voon.
Meanwhile, Wong who was former PBK Sarikei Central Working Committee chairman, when contacted confirmed that he had submitted his resignation on Dec 26, 2020. He said it was a regrettable decision but he has to do so for his political principles and conscience.
“I have totally lost confidence and trust in top PBK leadership. There is no integrity and transparency in PBK’s top leaders. They have no political wisdom to resolve party’s internal problems,” said Wong.
