Sarawak is a land of plenty and yet Sarawak People’s suffering never end. Sarawak native continues to lose their ancestor’s land to the authority’s new rulings and corporate company’s greed.

Sarawak native depend on natural environment for food but jungles destroyed in a blink of eyes for timber and oil palm plantation. Destroying the jungles they destroy Sarawak native culture. It has been reported that a planned move to further destroyed native culture and belief by offering monetary assistance after native agreed to religion conversion. This is against United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This is inhumane and must be stopped.

Sarawak daily oil and gas production is about 850,000 barrels and only 5% of the production value goes to Sarawak coffer while 95% of production value goes to Federal government through PETRONAS. This is obviously an unfair deal. PETRONAS assumingly having the Malaysia oil and gas ownership based on Petroleum Development Act 1974 however Petroleum Development Act 1974 is an invalid document as only the then Sarawak Chief Minister signed the document on behalf of all the oil and gas producing states of federation of Malaya and territories of Sabah and Sarawak. This is obviously beyond the authority and power of the then Chief Minister of Sarawak.

Sarawak and Sabah and Federation of Malaya in 1963 jointly signed an unequal agreement known as Malaysia Agreement 1963. It is an unequal agreement because Federation of Malaya was an independent country during signing of Malaysia Agreement 1963 while Sabah and Sarawak were colonies of British making the Malaysia Agreement 1963 null and void.
Federation of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak supposedly are equal partners under Malaysia Agreement 1963 but Sarawak and Sabah are short-changed and deprived of basic infrastructure development. Tax revenue and oil and gas revenues transferred to federal government and PETRONAS and promised return of a friction of revenue, better fund allocation and self-autonomy remained as empty promises.

It is time for Sarawak people to make a historical change in Sarawak by supporting the Sarawak based political party, Parti Bumi Kenyalang which has a reachable mission – “In Quest Of Sarawak Independence” in the coming election. Support Parti Bumi Kenyalang financially.
