Malaysia after being formed had never been colonized by any foreign country and made Sarawak or Malaysia the need to celebrate Malaysia Independence Day?
The federation of Malaysia was formed by four nations of the federation of Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak on 16 September, 1963. All of these nations were one time colonies of the United Kingdom but only the federation of Malaya was granted independence by the United Kingdom.
The federation of Malaya was set free and independent by the United Kingdom on 31 August 1963 after Malaya Independence Act 1957 was passed by United Kingdom Parliament.
Preparation is now going on in Sarawak to celebrate Malaysia Independence Day this coming 31 August, which should be scrapped off. Malaysia after being formed had never been colonized by any foreign country and made Sarawak or Malaysia the need to celebrate Malaysia Independence Day?
If Sarawak celebrates 31 August as Malaysia Independence Day, then Sarawak government is acknowledging that Sarawak is indeed a colony of the federation of Malaya. Be it known to Sarawakians that after the federation of Malaysia was formed, the federation of Malaya changed name to the federation of Malaysia. Dato Ong Yoke Lin of the federation of Malaya notified in a letter to the Secretary General of the United Nations concerning this change of name effective on 16 September, 1963.
Being a country, Sarawak is now a state in the federation of Malaysia and therefore Sarawak is now a state of Malaya by way of acquisition by Malaya under Malaysia Agreement 1963. The formation of Malaysia was opposed by large segment of the population of Sabah and Sarawak and unhappiness is now growing among Sarawakians in Sarawak of how Sarawak was handed by the United Kingdom to Malaya to become a territory of Malaya. Sarawakians are also very unhappy on how the federal government has taken Sarawak for granted for the past 59 years by not treating Sarawak fairly.
If PBK takes of the Sarawak government 22 July will be celebrated as In Quest of Independence Day and 31 August will not be celebrated.
Recently, His Royal Highness Sultan of Johore is also unhappy about Malaysia and voiced out his anger that Johore being treated as a “stepson” by the federal government. If Sultan of Johore is unhappy there is reason Sarawakians are not unhappy.
Parti Bumi Kenyalang shall keep on pursing see Sarawak be set free and independence by lawful and peaceful means. We have confidence to set Sarawak independence if we could capture the Sarawak government.
