People's task is to elect a good government and by putting good people in the Legislature. If we want to have a good government and good people in the Legislature we should stop Politics of the Belly, that is politics of clienteleism in which politics is seen as a business or a commerical enterprise and voters as clients where votes are bought and traded with money and gifts.
Goverment and ministers that are elected by way of cheating, bribery, corruption,
and by unethical means and see politics as a business investment
can always cause violence, civil wars or civil unrests, and coup d'etat.
In Africa, this was common. About a week ago, there was a coup d'etat in an African country.
Such practices can also cause the collapse of the economy.
Sarawakians wants a good govermnent and wants honest and sincere representatives in the Legislature, Sarawakians should watch out against such practices since elections are coming.
Elections cost money and many are willing to spend lots of money to win and to stay in power or to grab power.
Governments elected that way lacks morality and decency.
Any govenments formed by unethical means or by bribing the voters, when in power will abuse their position and trust of the people to recover their investments or money they spent to win elections.
Such govenments will then defray the costs to their people by increasing taxes of essential goods and raw materials.
Things will become more expensive and can like Venezuela cause the collapse of the economy.
Money can be devalued fast and inflation rates increase.
When money is devalued, prices of goods and materials shoot up. For this reason, in many developing countries, government projects stalled or has to be abandoned because govermnent suddenly found it lacks fund to complete the projects. Or the projects will not be completed according to specifications and required standards. Quality of buildings and roads will be compromised and can collapse or damage easily.
Had not this happened in Sarawak? You can see for yourself, especially in rural areas.
If people suffers, they may think of the unthinkable like taking laws in their own hands - looting the stores, robbing people in the streets etc.
We should not discount of coups happening to seize power.
It coups could happen in other countries due to incompetent government, this can also happen here.
In our region here, coups happened in Indonesia, Burma, South Korea and Phillipines. Will this happen here?
