Dear countryman, 50 years ago on 8th August night, Singapore was facing a great change, Cabinet had signed the Malaysia and Singapore separation agreement and government printing workers were rushed to print the special constitutions for publicizing Malaysia and Singapore separation agreement and Independence Declaration.

Police and Military Chief also received Malaysia Federal Government instruction that the following day they must obey the order of the new government in Singapore. This was done strictly under private and confidence situation. our ancestor was still Malaysian before going to sleep they could not imagine what was going to happen later.

On 9th August morning our world was having earth-shaking changes. 10:00 AM Radio station DJ read out the Independence Declaration only then our people knew Singapore had separated from Malaysia and will be always a self-governed, independence and democratic country. Republic of Singapore hence born. Many felt insecure and worried whether we could survive on our own. Our country economy was then still not on the right track hence no way then to talk about prosperous and development. We were then almost had no resource and military.

On the same day 12:00 noon Lee Kuan Yew during the interview on radio station was weeping and said that "this is the most painful and difficult time" but that painful moment become his whole life determination to clear all obstacles for the future of Singapore island. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew ended the interview with the promise that "Singapore will be a multi racial country, we will give good example, this is not a Malay country, not a Chinese country, and also not a Indian country but a homeland for all races, disregard of language, culture and religion, a country of equality for all races."
