Drinking is against Muslims in the country. It is considered HARAM. Many NGOs and activists in Malaya are against alcohol and some are also against cigarettes and vaping.
The 2026 budget saw what the prime Minister said for healthy living the Madani govenment has to raised taxes on liqueur and cigarettes. Perhaps, this is to discourage people from drinking and smoking.
But in Sabah and Sarawak, drinking is something many if not most Sabahans and Sarawakians are happy with, especially during festivals.
Since only politicians and activists in Malaya are against drinking and even called Dato Seri Tiong King Sing to be removed from the Cabinet, it is time that all taxes collected from liqueur in Sabah and Sarawak be returned to Sabah and Sarawak.
This is because such taxes should be Haram and the federal government that runs on Islamic morality should not benefit from what is haram.
