The Sarawak government, now under Gabungan Parti Sarawak, confirmed in 2017 that it had dispatched a legal delegation to the United Kingdom to obtain and examine original records relating to the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

That mission was justified to the people of Sarawak as necessary to establish a clear legal position based on primary source evidence. Yet, to this day, there has been no full public disclosure of the findings, documents, or legal conclusions arising from that exercise. This lack of transparency is unacceptable. 

PBK therefore calls on GPS to: Immediately publish all documents, archival materials, and legal analyses obtained from the United Kingdom;

State clearly whether the findings affirm, contradict, or materially alter Sarawak’s constitutional position under MA63;

Explain why, after nearly a decade, the people of Sarawak are still denied access to information obtained in their name and for their rights.

Sarawak’s rights under MA63 are not the property of any administration. They belong to the people. Any government that claims to defend those rights must also be prepared to account openly for the evidence it has gathered and the conclusions it has drawn.

If the findings support Sarawak’s position, they should strengthen Sarawak’s hand. If they reveal shortcomings or inconsistencies, the people have an even greater right to know. Silence on this matter only raises serious questions.  Transparency will resolve them. PBK remains committed to Streaming interrupted.
