Pada 17 Oktober 2025, Mahkamah Tinggi Kota Kinabalu memutuskan bahawa Kerajaan Persekutuan gagal memenuhi hak perlembagaan Sabah untuk 40% daripada hasil bersihnya dari tahun 1974 hingga 2021. Mahkamah telah mengarahkan kedua-dua Kerajaan Persekutuan dan Sabah untuk memasuki rundingan bagi menyelesaikan perkara ini dalam tempoh 180 hari, dengan rundingan dijadualkan bermula pada 17 November 2025.

On 17 October 2025, the Kota Kinabalu High Court ruled that the Federal Government failed to fulfil Sabah’s constitutional right to 40% of its net revenue from 1974 to 2021. The Court has directed both the Federal and Sabah Governments to enter negotiations to resolve this matter within 180 days, with negotiations scheduled to commence on 17 November 2025.
